Activities: Bringing the family into the Team

We understand that Nordic Skiing takes up a great deal of the skier's time and separates them from their family for quite a bit during the winter. While we like to think of the Nordic team as a "family" also, nothing will substitute for the skier's real family. So, our goal with these activities is to get the families involved with the skier and the team. It allows you to see what we are doing a little more and also gives us practice time without excluding the rest of the family. We encourage all of you to come and participate, get to know us better and let us get to know you better!!
The first of these activities will be the Ride n' Tie so bring your bikes and join us at the stadium!!

The Ride n' Tie Event
Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:00am

This event originates from the days when people were predominately riding horses. Two people would pair up in a relay; one running, one riding a horse. They would both take off at the same time, after reaching a set point or time, the person riding the horse would dismount, tie up the horse and take off running. When the person running would reach the horse they would ride, passing up the runner along the way, to the next point/time then tie the horse again and take off running. They would continue this process until they reached the finish.

For our ride n tie we will use bikes instead of horses as they are a lot easier to come by. We will set up a course and race around in our pairs. Everyone is welcome to participate and please bring the family along! If parents want to bike the course or do a bike/walk relay with each other or other family members we would love that, although we would also like to see some competition out there against the skiers as well!!

We willl meet at 10:00am at the stadium parking lot and begin from the trails there. Bring along apple cider and snacks and we will make a morning of it. Hope to see you then!

Go Crimson!
